A man has been charged after a unsecured ladder fell off the back of his trailer allegedly causing a crash which killed a motorcyclist.

The 40-year-old was driving his ute and trailer on the Pacific Motorway on the morning on November 2 at Nerang on the Gold Coast when the crash occurred.

The ute driver has been charged with one count of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death and will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on May 5.
