A mother was taken into custody after her two infant twins were found dead inside a Queens apartment on Thursday afternoon. 

Officers with the New York Police Department discovered the seven-weeks-old twins, a boy and a girl, inside the Woodside Houses on 51st Street and 32nd Avenue. 

A relative had requested a wellness check to the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) building in Woodside after the 23-year-old woman gave evasive answers when asked about the babies whereabouts, according to a police source,

Sources shared that the mother appeared agitated when police arrived to the scene, the New York Post reports.hurs

‘I do not want them,’ she reportedly toltd arriving officers, according to the New York Daily News. 

Police found the infant boy – Dakota Bentley – first inside a bedroom crib with what appeared to be a stab wound to the head, according to police sources.

When asked about the second child, the young mother indicated that she was under the sink. 

Authorities found the small girl – named Dallis Bentley – under the sink wrapped in a pink blanket, sources said.

‘She pointed towards the sink,’ NYPD Housing Chief David Barrere said during a Thursday press briefing.

An EMS pronounced both the both and the girl dead.

Police recovered a knife at the scene and brought the mother in for questioning, CBS New York reports. She has not yet been charged. 

The mother – who has not yet been identified – does not appear to have any criminal history.   

The Administration for Children’s Services is also investigating the death of the twins.
