Man, 33, is fighting for life after being found bleeding from several bullet wounds in a black ute

A man is fighting for life after being been found in a ute with several gunshot wounds on the NSW Mid North coast.

Police said emergency services were called to the Pacific Highway north of Coffs Harbour at Moonee Beach around 1.20am on Wednesday, following reports a man had been shot.

They found the injured 33-year-old man in a black utility with gunshot wounds.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Coffs Harbour Health Campus where he is in a critical condition.

Detectives are urging anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward.

The Pacific Highway northbound at the Emerald Beach interchange has been reduced to one lane as police investigate and delays are expected.
