MAGA rioter, 34, who was trampled in the Capitol mob actually died of acute amphetamine intoxication

The MAGA rioter who was trampled by the mob in the US Capitol actually died of acute amphetamine intoxication and was not crushed to death as initially thought, the medical examiner has revealed.

Roseanne Boyland, 34, was among four Donald Trump fans who died during the violent insurrection on January 6, shortly after she was seen carrying a Gadsden flag around DC.

Graphic bodycam footage obtained by DailyMail.com in January showed fellow rioters trampling over Boyland to attack Capitol cops with a crutch and hockey stick as her friend screamed for help.

But the DC Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed Wednesday that Boyland, a recovering addict, actually died of a drug overdose and that the manner of her death was an accident.

The medical examiner Dr. Francisco J. Diaz also released the cause and manner of death of the three other Capitol rioters killed in the day’s violence.

However, Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick’s cause and manner of death is still ‘pending’ – three months after he was killed in the line of duty while defending the Capitol from attack.

The medical examiner confirmed that 35-year-old Ashli Babbitt died from gunshot wound to the left anterior shoulder.

Her manner of death was deemed a homicide, meaning it was the result of ‘intentional harm of one person by another’.

The Trump-supporting Air Force veteran was shot by a Capitol police officer while she tried to climb through a window into the congressional chambers.

She died in hospital several hours later.

No charges have been brought over Babbitt’s death.

The two other rioters who died that day were killed by heart failure rather than injuries sustained in the insurrection, the medical examiner said.

Kevin Greeson, 55, and Benjamin Phillips, 50, both died of natural causes from hypertensive atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.

Meanwhile, Officer Sicknick is the only one of five people who died that day whose cause and manner of death is still to be determined.

The medical examiner’s office told DailyMail.com cause and manner of death are usually determined within a 90-day window under the rules set out by the National Association of Medical Examiners.

But the timeframe can be extended when the death is more ‘complex’, they said.

Wednesday marks 90 days since Sicknick, 42, died the day after he and two other officers were sprayed in the face with bear mace by rioters.

The alleged perpetrators, George Pierre Tanios and Julian Elie Khater, were arrested in March and are facing multiple felony charges including assaulting police with a deadly weapon.

But no murder charges have yet been filed as the cause of death remains a mystery.

Investigators believe he may have suffered a stroke from ingesting a chemical substance.

Footage obtained by the New York Times in March showed a string of video clips which purportedly showed Tanios, Khater and Sicknick at several points before, during and after the bear spray incident.

In one of the videos a man identified as Khater is seen deploying a stream of liquid in the direction of Sicknick, who turns and runs for cover, holding his hands over his eyes.

Sicknick returned to his division office that evening after the riot and collapsed.

He was hospitalized and put on a ventilator. He died later that night.

Initial reports had said Sicknick died after being struck over the head with a fire extinguisher but new information in the weeks after the riot disputed that narrative.

Sicknick was cremated and his ashes lay in honor in the Capitol Rotunda before he was interred at Arlington National Cemetery.

Boyland’s cause of death also differs to initial reports.

In the days after the riot, her family told DailyMail.com police said she had been potentially ‘crushed’ in the mob.

Capitol Police were seen performing CPR on her and she was pronounced dead in a hospital that evening.

Bodycam footage later emerged showing Boyland being trampled over by fellow rioters as she lay dying on the ground.

In it, her friend Justin Winchell was heard repeatedly crying her name and shouting ‘she’s dead’, while Trump rioters pushed over her to get to cops.

Her family described her as an avid Trump supporter and blamed the then-president for her death, saying she had never attended one of his rallies prior to that day.

Boyland was seen earlier that day carrying a Gadsden flag – a Revolutionary War flag which carries the words ‘Don’t Tread on Me’ and is regarded by some as a racist symbol.

The medical examiner would not confirm the drugs responsible for Boyland’s death.

Boyland was a recovering drug addict who had been arrested multiple times on drug offenses in the past but had been sober for years, her friend Nicholas Stamathis said in January.

‘She got clean and sober and stopped blaming other people for her problems and got real conservative,’ Stamathis said.

Boyland was attending addiction group meetings in Atlanta and planned to become a sobriety counselor.

But she then became increasingly focused on right-wing politics and had got caught up in the QAnon conspiracy theory just before her death, her family said.

Trump fans breached the Capitol on the afternoon of January 6 moments after the then-president held a rally where he told his supporters to ‘fight’ and called on his Vice President Mike Pence to halt the certification of the electoral college votes for Joe Biden.

Trump was impeached by the House for ‘inciting the insurrection’ marking the first time a president has been impeached twice.

He was then acquitted by the Senate during his impeachment trial.
