Lara Trump accuses Biden of putting Americans last and suggests Donald Trump will soon visit border

Lara Trump has accused the Biden administration of ‘outrageous’ neglect of the American public, saying that teachers educating migrant children while U.S. pupils remain out of classrooms shows their warped priorities.

Teachers from the San Diego County Office of Education as well as other nonprofit organizations started providing educational services on Monday to some of the 500 minors currently at the San Diego Convention Center.

The youngsters arrived from Texas and Arizona over the weekend – a week before full in-person learning begins in the city.

Of more than 700 unaccompanied girls transferred to the center, at least 82 have tested positive for the virus as of Tuesday afternoon, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services told Fox News on Tuesday evening.

That means that there is a far higher COVID infection rate among the children being taught in-person, than those who are currently still barred from their classrooms and having to learn remotely.

Trump, who is strongly suspected to be eyeing a run for the Senate seat in North Carolina next year, said it showed Biden’s contempt for his own people.

She noted he is yet to visit the border, and suggested that Donald Trump would soon be traveling to the region to see for himself the situation. She said he was going because Border Patrol agents ‘want some support’, and felt they were not getting it from the Biden administration.

‘They stopped prioritizing the American people a long time ago, in case nobody noticed,’ she told Fox News on Tuesday night.

‘The fact that these kids – it has been over a year since so many of them have been in school.

‘Parents are struggling. Do I go to work, or do I stay home and try to teach my kid remotely, which is nearly impossible.

‘The migrant kids get to go to school.’

The COVID rate among the migrant children at the Convention Center – 82 cases out of roughly 700 – is about 9 per cent, compared to the .0018 per cent rate of to San Diego residents.

‘That’s a case rate of 10,933 per 100,000 – or 437 times higher than the case rate threshold that schools are allowed to reopen in California,’ said Scott Davison, who is suing the state to try and force a quicker school reopening.

‘Threshold for reopening in California is 25 per 100,000.’

Trump also pointed out that $86 million of taxpayer money was being spent on putting ‘people who have come to our country illegally, broken our laws, in hotel rooms.’

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement confirmed that $86.9 million would be spent over a period of six months to house migrant families who cross the U.S.-Mexico border into the United States.

Migrant families were similarly housed in U.S. hotels under the Obama and Trump administrations.

‘It is so outrageous,’ she said.

The Border Patrol has encountered an average of 5,000 undocumented immigrants a day over the past 30 days, a senior Border Patrol official said last week.

In May 2019, the Border Patrol encountered more than 144,000 undocumented immigrants, a 12-year high.

March is likely to surpass that, reaching 150,000 crossings.

Many of the immigrants are still being turned back to Mexico under an authorization from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to combat the spread of COVID-19, but unaccompanied children and some migrant families are staying in the U.S.

Trump, 38, said that the White House was trying to cover up what was going on along the U.S.-Mexico border, after weeks of denying access to migrant shelters.

The government finally relented and allowed camera crews in on Tuesday in Donna, Texas, where thousands of migrants are being kept in cramped ‘pods’ where they sleep on mats on the floor.

The pandemic capacity of the south Texas intake facility is 250 people, but 4,100 people were being held there Tuesday.

Over 3,400 of them were children, the youngest of them four months old.

Under CDC guidelines, each of the pods in the facility should hold only 32 children. The three reviewed by the media had 516, 576 and 615 per pod.

‘Could you imagine for a second if Donald Trump was in charge of any of this?’ she said.

‘He was so transparent.

‘He always answered questions of the media.

‘He let everybody into see the facilities.’

And she said the attitude of her father-in-law dissuaded migrants from making the journey, which meant they were spared the horrors of the journey from their home countries across Mexico to the border.

‘Around a quarter of the women that make this trek up through Mexico and to our southern border are sexually assaulted,’ she said.

‘These young girls are sexually assaulted. They are sold into child slavery. They are sold into sex trafficking. It is absolutely abominable.

‘The best thing possible is to never have anyone make that journey.

‘Under President Donald Trump, he made it very clear they were not going to try and do it because they knew they would be sent home.

‘The president of Mexico calls Joe Biden the migrant president because he is allowing all of these people to flow into America. It is a joke. We look ridiculous. It is a security issue.

‘If we allow this to continue, we are going to lose America as we have always known it.

‘It is a terrifying thing to see.’
