This is the moment a shop owner shoots an armed robber as the gunman tried to steal from his store in Brazil. 

The shooting left the 29-year-old man, who was struck twice by bullets as he attempted to flee, injured and lying on the floor outside of the mobile phone store in the southeastern city of Belo Horizonte.

He then moves behind the counter and looks through a cupboard before appearing to follow the store attendant into a back room – which is out of shot in the video. 

Seconds later, the gunman appears again and walks towards the shop door to flee.

The robber falls to the ground outside as the manager continues to point his gun at him. 

According to the news site G1, the injured gunman, whose name was not disclosed, was taken to hospital where he underwent surgery to remove the bullets. 

He remains there receiving medical treatment while remaining under arrest.

Meanwhile, the police also arrested a suspected accomplice who was waiting on a motorbike nearby, allegedly to assist with the getaway.

The police added that the shop owner’s gun is legally owned and registered until 2030.

The investigation is ongoing.
