'How long will we have to live like this?!' Beth Rigby bashes Boris on endless rules

Beth Rigby grilled the Prime Minister over plans to introduce twice-weekly testing for every UK citizen to prevent another outbreak of COVID-19. But the political editor brought up a promise by the Prime Minister who said the vaccination programme would create a “shield” for the population and would allow a clear road to freedom. Ms Rigby then exclaimed “how long will we live like this” as she echoed concerns that normal life is still very far away.

The Government agrees that its “four tests” have been met meaning restrictions can be lifted on April 12.

The tests include successful vaccine deployment and its effectiveness in driving down hospitalizations and deaths.

The other two tests look at infection rates and whether new variants of concerns could impact the pandemic.

As of April 12, many non-essential shops will reopen with hospitality venues like pubs and restaurants reopening their outdoor service.

But social gathering rules remain the same with the rule of six or two households only allowed to meet.

Foreign travel is still banned unless for essential reasons outlined by the Government.
