Frightening moment woman is caught in the middle of a shootout inside store in Brazil as armed customer confronts gunman

A female customer had no other option but to remain seated and watch as a male shopper and wanted suspect exchanged gunfire inside a store in the northeastern Brazilian state of Maranhão.
The frightening incident unfolded Monday morning in the municipality of São Luis when a 42-year-old man wanted for a string of robberies entered the shop and covered his mouth and ear area with a mask, per the business’ COVID-19 preventative guidelines.
A store surveillance camera showed how the suspect reached for his waistband and pulled a gun out.
However, the male customer quickly withdrew a gun from under his shirt and immediately fired at the suspect.

The frightened woman could barely cover her face as the customer sought refuge inside an office and as bullets flew across the small store space.
The footage showed the moment the armed suspect appeared to have ran out of ammunition, allowing the woman to dive for the floor and move to the other side of the office. The suspect subsequently opened the front entrance door and fled.
Local media outlets reported that the Military Police 6th Battalion located the suspect and his accomplice in the São Luis neighborhood of Ciudade Operária.
The shooter was nabbed but his cohort managed to escape.
It’s unknown if the customer who engaged the suspect in the gun battle or any of the other shoppers and workers sustained any injuries.
