CAT-ch! Friendly tabby surprises delivery driver by leaping up onto his shoulders before neighbour comes out to rescue him

Delivery drivers are normally on the lookout for dogs, but one unsuspecting courier was caught on camera being ambushed by a cat.
CCTV footage filmed on February 24 in Warwickshire shows the super-friendly tabby giving the man a shock when it crept up behind him and then leapt onto his shoulders.
The stunned delivery driver walked around for a few seconds with the cat on his back before customer Bethan O’Brien came to the rescue and removed it.

She walked out and smiled at him as she gently removed the tabby. The delivery driver also smiled, grateful to be rescued by her.
Ms O’Brien posted the footage on TikTok five days ago, saying she had stepped in as the delivery driver had ‘frozen’ when her next-door neighbour’s cat jumped up.
Since then, the clip has racked up more than 2.3 million views and 304,000 likes from amused viewers.

Cats tend to pounce on their owners when they are looking for attention or want to play.
It is less common for them to leap on strangers. Usually, they hide behind a corner or furniture and then jump out at their owner.
Claire Haynes, an animal Claire Haynes, animal behaviourist at national pet charity Blue Cross said: ‘All cats are different; whilst some might be more cautious or disinterested around unfamiliar people, some cats will be more confident to interact – depending on who they are as a cat, and their previous experiences with strangers.
‘There can be lots of reasons cats might jump up at people; if a cat has been encouraged to do so, and has enjoyed that experience, it may be they seek this out with people visiting their home.’
