‘The Department for Education has been notified by SAPOL of the arrest of a 36-year-old female teacher at a metropolitan school,’ a statement from the department said.

‘She has been charged with child sexual offences. Parents are being informed in line with Debelle protocols.’

The teacher’s employment has been suspended.

She was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on June 16.

The Debelle Inquiry was conducted by former Supreme Court Justice Bruce Debelle in 2013, after parents were left uninformed of a sexual assault case at a school for almost two years.

The 281-page report listed 43 recommendations for better reporting mechanisms for reacting to sexual assault in schools.
