‘It was in the last place I looked, in the sliding door cavity in the wall,’ snake catcher Mr McKenzie wrote on social media.
‘I am so glad I found it.’
He coaxed the snake from behind the door using a long stick, before missing it as it popped out and slithered behind a TV cabinet.
They engaged in a long and intense standoff before Mr McKenzie captured and released the serpent.
The Eastern brown snake, also known as a common brown snake, is the second most venomous land snake in the world and is found across the east of Australia.
The nervous species often seeks shelter in human habitats but is quick to attack if it feels threatened and is unable to escape.
