A desperate search is underway to locate a 14-year-old girl missing after she didn’t come home on Tuesday night.

Police are concerned for the welfare of Jenepher Edith Stephanie Smith who was last seen in Middle Swan, in Perth’s north east, about 5.20pm on Tuesday.

Jenepher is about 150cm tall, fair skinned with a medium build, shoulder length brown hair, and green-blue eyes.

She was last seen wearing a tie-dye trousers and a black t-shirt.

A comment on social media responding to a post from the Western Australia Police Force suggested Jenepher was seen getting off a train at Stirling, north of Perth’s CBD, on Tuesday.

But as of Wednesday morning, her exact whereabouts remain unknown.

Anyone who sees Jenepher is encouraged to call police immediately.

According to statistics obtained from the Australian Federal Police and the National Missing Persons Coordination Centre, roughly 25,000 children are reported missing in Australia each year.

About a third of missing persons tend to go missing more than once, and are often located at a friend’s house.
