The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating one of their own in Washington, DC following a viral TikTok featuring a tense exchange between a cop and a man.

During the exchange, the man filming asks if the police officer is going to kill him, referencing how Columbus police recently shot dead 16-year-old Ma’Khia Bryant.

The officer responds by asking if the man was going to stab somebody, which Bryant was poised to do before she was shot.

The TikTok was posted by user ‘karonoliviaa’ on Friday, though it’s unclear when it was initially filmed. The TikTok user also claimed she is not the person who recorded the video.

The person behind the camera appears to be in a parking lot, within the vicinity of several police officers.

‘Are y’all gonna kill me like Ma’Khia Bryant, f***’ the person behind the camera asks.

‘Are you going to stab somebody like her?,’ one of the officers appears to respond. It’s unclear who actually made the comment, due to face coverings.

The video is facing one of the officers at this point, but it’s challenging to decipher if he is the one who made the comment.

‘No, but she called y’all for help, f*** is you talking about, get your goofy a** – I can’t – and you just said that on camera, this s*** going viral,’ the person behind the camera responds. At this point, the video appears to pivot towards another officer, but it’s not clear if that officer is part of the exchange.

He appears to have been right about the last claim, with the video viewed over 940,000 times as of Tuesday morning.

According to Insider, the Metro Police Department is now investigating the video.

They did not state that one of their officers made the comment in question, but said ‘the members in the video are MPD members.’

No officer in the video has been identified at this point and it’s unclear what specifically is being investigated.

DailyMail.com has reached out to the Metropolitan Police Department for comment.

The TikTok was referencing the chaotic scene at a foster home in Columbus, Ohio, last Tuesday.

Police officer Nicholas Reardon opened fire on Ma’Khia Bryant when she lunged at another person with a knife.

Reardon shot Bryant four times at around 4.45pm on Tuesday on the 3100 block of Legion Lane while responding to a 911 call about an attempted stabbing.

According to 10TV, Bryant’s mother claims that Bryant was the one who made the 911 call because of a fight outside the home, though police haven’t confirmed who the caller was.

Footage from a security camera on a garage across the street from the foster home captured a glimpse of the moments leading up to the fatal incident.

The 26-second video shows a girl – now known to be Bryant – walking down a driveway toward other people at the very same moment that a police car pulls up outside the home.

Bryant then suddenly charges at another person in the driveway. What happened next was captured on police body camera footage released Wednesday.

The police officer is seen taking a few steps toward a group of people in the driveway when Bryant starts swinging a knife wildly at another girl or woman, who falls backward.

The officer shouts several times to get down. Bryant then charges at another girl or woman, who is pinned against a car.

From a few feet away, with people on either side of him, the officer fires four shots, and Bryant slumps to the ground. A black-handled blade similar to a kitchen knife or steak knife lies on the sidewalk next to her.

A man immediately yells at the officer: ‘You didn’t have to shoot her! She’s just a kid, man!’

The officer responds: ‘She had a knife. She just went at her.’

Reardon is currently not on active duty on the streets, pending the results of an investigation into his actions.
