Covid shock for Aussie cricket star as top player catches the virus and is forced into isolation – just days after flying from Australia

Australian cricket star Daniel Sams has been forced into self-isolation at a medical facility in India after contracting coronavirus.

The all-rounder tested positive on Wednesday, a week after he tested negative after touching down in India from Australia.

The NSW and Sydney Thunder star, 28, is in India to play for Royal Challengers Bangalore the upcoming IPL season.

‘Daniel Sams checked into the team hotel in Chennai on April 3rd, with a negative COVID report on arrival,’ Royal Challengers Bangalore tweeted.

‘His report from the 2nd test on 7th April came positive. Sams is currently asymptomatic and he is currently in isolation at a designated medical facility.

‘Royal Challengers Bangalore medical team is in constant touch with Daniel Sams and continue to monitor his health and abide by the BCCI protocols.’ 

Sams will now miss the start of the IPL season with his return yet to be confirmed.
