Coogee local slams inconsiderate driver for leaving a tiny space for him to get out

A frustrated resident has shared a picture of his car after an inconsiderate driver left him only a tiny gap to get out from a very tight parking spot.

A Sydney driver posted a picture to Facebook group ‘Coogee Local Loop’ on Tuesday night, where he complained his car was stuck in a parking space. 

A blue Citroen had blocked the motorist’s Volkswagen in, only allowing him a few centimetres at the front of his vehicle to get out. 

According to the driver’s post on Facebook, the vehicle was trapped at the bottom of a steep hill on Mount Street, next to Coogee Beach Club, in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

The steep incline of the hill also made things difficult for the motorist, as it required him to perform a reverse hill start. 

‘If anyone knows who owns it can you please tell them to come and move it forward’, the driver urged members of the group’, the post read. 

‘We’ve been unable to drive anywhere for two days now and have been getting public transport to work.’

Many group members shared their expertise in the comments, with one man explaining it was a simple as ‘handbrake on, foot on break and engage the reverse’.

The driver replied to this comment and asked if the local had seen the steep hill the car was currently stuck on. 

‘We did exactly as the steps you said and due to gravity its almost impossible to not have the car roll forward at least slightly. Which is what ended up happening.’ 

Other members of the group were sure the driver could get out of the tight spot. 

‘There is this magic symbol on the gear lever, it looks like ‘R’… maybe try that before pointing the blame at someone else?’, one person suggested. 

‘Your inability to drive has got yourself in that situation’, another said.  

The driver defended himself saying he knew how to do reverse hill starts, but his car wasn’t powerful enough to ‘take off instantly’ after he released the handbrake. 

‘It would be doable if we had more room but as we only have 10 centimetres it’s inevitable that we would tap the car in front, which we want to avoid’, he said.

Other residents expressed their disdain for the inconsiderate Citroen driver. 

‘Unbelievably selfish – maybe contact council ranger’, one user suggested.

‘Jesus that’s bad parking’, another agreed. 

One user suggested the man report the bad driver to the Coogee Council.

‘They can tow the car away and have a fine issued for the cost of traffic obstruction and towing. Punitive for sure, but hopefully they will learn not to do this again.’
