A controversial YouTube star has been blasted online for targeting a homeless man in a cruel sneezing prank.

Gold Coast social media personality Luke Erwin, who boasts 378,000 followers on YouTube, was forced to remove his latest video after it sparked backlash online.

In the since-deleted video, Erwin is seen walking towards a shirtless man armed with a green spray bottle. 

As Erwin gets closer, he sprays the man across his bare back while pretending to sneeze on him.

When the man turns around, the prankster continues the gag by clutching at his nose, hiding the spray bottle with his other hand. 

While the homeless man appeared unaware of the nature of the prank, viewers were quick to accuse Erwin of being ‘tone-deaf’ and exploiting a vulnerable person for cheap laughs. 

‘Imagine sitting around with your group of friends thinking how you need new content and thinking of this bright idea to go out into the public and pick on the less fortunate,’ one person wrote. according to 7 News.

‘You have just proven that you have a complete lack of empathy towards other human beings.’

The video has been taken down from social media along with the personality’s Instagram account. 

Erwin’s latest prank is part of a string of controversial videos he has uploaded to social media, many of them featuring bikini-clad models.  

In 2019, the social media personality along with his older brother Joel, filmed himself using an airhorn to frighten unsuspecting pedestrians in Sydney.

The pair were charged with assault over the incident after one of their victims went to the police complaining of a damaged eardrum.

‘If the guy’s ear’s hurt, yeah I do (regret it),’ Luke told 7 NEWS at the time. 

‘I guess people might find it offensive but at the end of the day, we’re just trying to have a laugh,’ Joel said. 

The victim’s lawyer Paul McGirr disagreed.

‘(They) may think it’s only mucking around, unfortunately for them the test is on the alleged victim and how they feel as a result of that prank,’ he said. 

The controversial duo were also charged after one of the brothers allegedly touched a woman with a hand-held feather duster at Sydney’s Darling Harbour in 2019. 

In the same week, the brothers filmed themselves walking beside a woman in Sydney’s CBD before spraying water on her face and neck, police alleged. 

The pair were charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company and common assault. 

In January, the controversial prankster sparked chaos at at an ‘Invasion Day’ rally after handing out cases of free beer to Brisbane attendees. 

He also enjoyed a short romance with Love Island star Vanessa Sierra, who is now dating tennis star Bernard Tomic.  

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Erwin for further comment.
