'Children are dying!' Anas Sarwar confronts Nicola Sturgeon on SNP's record of shame

Nicola Sturgeon received a grilling from her election opponent, Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar, when he was allowed to cross-examine her during a live debate. The First Minister was confronted over serious failings in the opening of Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, which resulted in infections in patients. The SNP leader tried to defend herself and her party against the accusations of poor leadership.

Mr Sarwar spoke about how Ms Sturgeon had received a report about the water supply of the hospital not being safe when she was Health Secretary.

Over 10 children fell ill due to this error, and two died.

He demanded to know why the report was “ignored” and stated that the hospital should “never have been allowed to open”.

The First Minister claimed that this “was not the case” and that investigations were still going on.
