'Can't blame it all on pandemic' Nicola Sturgeon's SNP defence brutally shut down

Nicola Sturgeon was shut down by Sky News’ Sophy Ridge on Sunday in an angry debate over the coronavirus pandemic’s impact on her record as First Minister. Ms Sturgeon said: “We’ve made significant progress but we still got work to do. “We would undoubtedly have made more progress had we not faced the disruption as everybody has faced over the past year with Covid.”

But Ridge jumped in and said: “You can’t blame this all on the pandemic.”

But in a jumpy moment, Ms Sturgeon suddenly interjected: “I didn’t! I didn’t!”

Ridge continued to reel off statistics including exam pass rate figures in Scotland which have plummeted under Sturgeons watch.

Sturgeon replied: “Just to be clear Sophy, I think people listening to me would not have heard me trying to blame everything on covid!”

“Equally I think most people understand that covid has an impact on every aspect of life.”
