June Mummery told Express.co.uk the UK Government handed over Britain’s most sustainable and renewable resources to the European Union during the negotiations over the post-Brexit trade agreement. The former Brexit Party MEP also questioned what the UK gained by agreeing to the terms on fishing with the trading bloc.
Ms Mummery said: “We surrendered the UK’s most sustainable, renewable resource which is owned by each and every one of us as a public asset.
“So we handed that over but what did we actually get for that?
“They are stopping shellfish from going over the border and people are saying ‘well hang on a minute the other countries cannot do it’ but did those other countries handover one of their most valuable resources?
“No, they did not but we did.”

During the same interview, Ms Mummery told Express.co.uk that once the terms on fishing with the European Union were revealed, fishermen felt they had been let down by the UK Government again.
The former Brexit Party MEP labelled Boris Johnson’s broken promises as soul-destroying.
She said: “It was odd really because for the first time really the fishing industry, and the fishermen mainly, thought, ‘oh dear, we have been shafted again’.
“The broken promises that our Prime Minister gave us are soul-destroying.
The post-Brexit transition period between Britain and the trading bloc expired on December 31 2020.
Ms Mummery added: “Boris has sacrificed the fishing industry, coastal communities and our friends in Northern Ireland to get Brexit done.
“I expected that we would concede a bit, possibly they could carry on fishing sustainably, banning super trawlers, all these different things.
“But no way did I expect for us to give everything away.
