Booking.com advertises ordinary four-bedroom Bristol house for £30,000 for five nights this summer

The staycation boom CAN’T be this bad! Booking.com advertises ordinary four-bedroom Bristol house for £30,000 for five nights this summer – triple the price of a suite at the Savoy

  • The average property price on the Southmead road in Bristol is £193,000
  • Two adults and two children could stay at the Savoy for £2,416 for the same time
  • It is unclear whether listing is genuine, a practical joke or a typographical error

An ordinary four-bedroom Bristol home has been put on rental site Booking.com for £30,195 for a five-night-stay this summer, triple the price of the most expensive suite at the Savoy.

The average property price on the Southmead road is £193,000, meaning the owners would need just seven bookings to have earned back the entire cost of the terraced house.

According to a neighbour, the building is actually a block of flats rather than an entire property.

While it is unclear whether the listing is genuine, a practical joke or a typographical error, it appears the homeowners are trying to cash in on the UK’s staycation boom following lockdown this year.

Two adults and two children would be able to stay at the famous five-star London hotel the Savoy for the same amount of time for just a twelfth of the price.

A five-night stay at the hotel, which has been visited by Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra, Rihanna and Taylor Swift, will set customers back just £2,416.

Even the iconic hotel’s most expensive room would cost less than half of the average-looking Bristol home at just £11,380 for five nights.

And that room, the River View Suite, boasts a king bed, panoramic River Thames view and a butler service.
