Ben Carson has plans to launch his own version of the Boy Scouts called the Little Patriots.

According to The Washington Post, Carson has started the think-tank-like organization, American Cornerstone Institute, that he’s calling a ‘do tank’ instead of retiring after serving as the Housing and Urban Development Secretary under former president Donald Trump.

‘The concept of retiring, relaxing, playing golf, playing piano, all seemed very appealing,’ Carson told the newspaper. ‘And then I started thinking about the kids. All the kids.’

And while thinking about the kids, Carson, who had a successful career as a pediatric brain surgeon, came up with the concept of creating a Boy Scouts-like organization called Little Patriots.

‘It will be something like the Boy Scouts,’ he said, referring to the Little Patriots program. ‘But heavily exposed to the real history of America.’

According to the Post, Carson’s new American Cornerstone Institute will allow him to travel all over the US to participate in roundtable discussions about conservative values.

Carson didn’t give any details about what the program would consist of, but he did give an example that appeared to reference the removal of Confederate statues and monuments.

‘You probably notice when ISIS goes into a place, they destroy the history; they destroy the monuments,’ he told the Post. ‘History is what gives you identity,’ he added.

Carson wrote in the caption of the video: ‘I started the American Cornerstone Institute because I care about the future of this country. One of the ways we can make America a better place is to ensure that the next generation has a deep sense of patriotism and love of country.

‘In the near future ACI will be announcing a program to help do this. For now, enjoy this video of one of our first little patriots.’

But if the program is anything like the Boy Scouts it would have youth programs across the US for youth between the ages of 5 and 21.

According to the Boy Scouts’ website, the organization ‘provides the nation’s foremost youth program of character development and values-based leadership training’.

Last month, the Boy Scouts of America submitted a bankruptcy reorganization plan that envisioned continued operations of its local troops and national adventure camps but leaves many unanswered questions about how it will resolve tens of thousands of sexual abuse claims by former Boy Scouts

Last year, the organization, based in Irving, Texas, sought bankruptcy protection in an effort to halt hundreds of lawsuits and create a compensation fund for men who were molested as youngsters decades ago by scoutmasters or other leaders.

As of this week, the estimated value of the roughly 84,000 sexual abuse claims filed in the bankruptcy are at about $103billion.
