A poor Golden Retriever learned the power of the dark side when she saw Darth Vader for the first time.
Ellie the pooch appeared to be watching Star Wars: A New Hope for the first time (presumably with her owner) when Darth Vader, iconic villain and Sith Lord extraordinaire appeared on screen, walking through a billow of smoke.
The scene appears fairly early in the film as audience members are still being introduced to the characters and the larger Star Wars universe.

Ellie does decide to keep watching the movie, but behind the safety of her couch
Prior to Darth Vader’s first appearance, Ellie was calmly sitting on the couch, eyes glued to the screen.
Her demeanor changed as soon as Darth Vader appeared on the screen, though.
The second she laid her eyes on the man in the bulky black suit, she began lifting herself off the couch and away from the action.
After Ellie scurries away, however, part of her face appears, leading her owner to investigate.

As soon as she saw Darth Vader, Ellie was on the move, running away from the screen
Sure enough, Ellie is still watching the movie, she just hides behind the couch while she waits for Darth Vader to scram off the screen.
The video, which was posted to TikTok by ‘rustymetalcreation’ on Tuesday, is proving to be a massive hit, with almost 500,000 likes and over 3.6 million views.
Among those approving of Ellie’s reaction is Luke Skywalker himself, who retweeted the video to his followers.
‘Smart dog,’ Mark Hamill tweeted. ‘I only wish I’d thought of hiding behind the couch when I first met him.’
Of course, Hamill’s character would ultimately gain the upper hand, defeating Darth Vader over the course of the franchise’s original trilogy.
To find that out, Ellie will have to hop back on to the couch and overcome her fear of Darth Vader for the rest of the trilogy.
Somebody should check back in with her during the climax of The Empire Strikes Back, though.
