Australia’s unemployment rate has fallen to just 5.6 per cent – the lowest since the start of the pandemic.

In March, 70,700 jobs were created as the jobless level fell from 5.8 per cent, the Australian Bureau of Statistics has revealed.

The official jobless rate is now only a touch higher than the 5.1 per cent level of February 2020, shortly before the Covid shutdowns, despite the end of JobKeeper wage subsidies in late March.
