A heartbroken mother faces having to bury her five-year-old son after he was killed along with his father and another woman in a horrific crash on Easter Saturday.

Achilles Aiken had only just started school when the Honda Accord he and his dad were passengers in swerved off the Princes Highway 13km south of Ulladulla on the NSW south coast about 4.30am and smashed into a tree.

The little boy died at the scene along with his father and the car’s female driver, with only an adult male passenger surviving with serious injuries.

A fundraiser set up to help raise money for his memorial service on Monday paid tribute to the car-loving five-year-old whose ‘little life had just begun’.

‘No mother should have to bury her child,’ the GoFundMe’s organiser Karen Gough said.

‘We all think little children are special but he truly was. He was full of spirit with a love of his cars like you’ve never seen.’

The fundraising page explained Achilles was on his way to spend Easter with his mother when tragedy struck.

His cousin Kirsten Hayes on Saturday night said the youngster had been taken ‘way too soon’.

‘You were an absolute blessing and so bloody loved,’ she wrote on Facebook.

‘I’m glad I got to feel your heart and hugs even if it was only for a short time. I love you baby cuz. Spread your wings and fly baby boy.’

The fundraiser has so far raised almost $1,500 towards it $5,000 goal.

Officers from South Coast Police District were over the weekend examining the crash scene on the Princes Highway at Lake Tabourie and an investigation is underway as to how the car left the road and collided with the tree.

Pictures showed emergency crews being met with a shocking scene as they worked in the pre-dawn darkness to assess the crash site.

The crumpled wreck of the Honda can be seen in one piece but clearly having sustained catastrophic damage.

Police and paramedics could be seen loading the male survivor into the back of a waiting ambulance before he was later airlifted to hospital.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.

A woman also died in hospital on Saturday morning following a separate single-vehicle crash in Sydney’s south, police said.

The 46-year-old was a passenger in a Hyundai i30 which left the road and struck a power pole on Ramsgate Road at Ramsgate on Friday evening.

The 64-year-old driver of the Hyundai also sustained suspected spinal injuries and is in St George Hospital.

Officers from St George Police Area Command and the Crash Investigation Unit have established a crime scene.

Holiday traffic heading south and west also caused significant delays as motorists drove towards the South Coast and Blue Mountains.
