A cat has been saved from a window ledge on the 18th level of an apartment complex following a delicate rescue mission by fire crews.
Firefighters from the Burwood and Liverpool stations were called to the high-rise building in Sydney Olympic Park, to the city’s west, at about 12.30pm on Sunday.
A crew member was lowered down the orange building on ropes in a desperate attempt to retrieve Abito the cat.

Video footage showed a firefighter reach for the furry friend and stash him into a red bag.
‘Abito the cat found themselves in a-bit-o trouble today!’ Fire and Rescue NSW said on Facebook.
‘Stuck on a ledge in windy conditions on the 18th level of their apartment block, crews from Burwood and Liverpool leapt into action to ensure Abito retained all 9 lives!’
Abito survived the ordeal unscathed and was reunited with his worried owners.
‘Thank you for saving him, he would have been so scared,’ one person wrote on Facebook.
‘Great work. A tricky job,’ another commented.
